Lydia's Vision

"Then the LORD answered me and said: 'Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it.'" — Habakkuk 2:2

The Vision of Disciples of Lydia

The vision for the Disciples of Lydia is rooted in the legacy of a woman whose life bridged the gap between industrious enterprise and spiritual devotion. As a "noble one" (Lydia) and a "daughter" (Thyatira) of the Most High, our vision is to cultivate a community of God-fearing entrepreneurs and leaders who are as diligent in their craft as they are in their worship. We envision a movement where the "purple cloth" of our professional excellence becomes the very fabric of our ministry, transforming our places of business and our homes into sanctuaries of worship, networking, and support.

Our core pillars, inspired by Lydia's life and legacy, are:

  • Spiritual Devotion: We prioritize a heart receptive to the Holy Spirit, ensuring our leadership is birthed from a place of deep, God-fearing worship, following the example of Lydia, whose heart the Lord opened (Acts 16:14).

  • Noble Leadership: We call our members to walk in their identity as royalty in Christ, leading with integrity, grace, and a "noble" spirit in every industry, reflecting the meaning of Lydia's name, "noble one."

  • Entrepreneurial Excellence: We embrace the hardworking spirit of the industrial entrepreneur, striving for excellence and innovation in our professional endeavors, inspired by Lydia's success as a seller of purple from the industrial city of Thyatira.

  • Radical Hospitality: We transform our homes and businesses into "house churches"—hubs of spiritual growth, strategic networking, and mutual support, mirroring Lydia's act of opening the first house church in Europe.

  • Strategic Networking: We foster a community of "Disciples" who leverage their professional networks to advance the Kingdom and support one another’s callings, drawing from Thyatira's reputation for trade guilds and collaborative environments.

Our Commitment

Inspired by the description of Thyatira in Revelation—as a people whose "last works are more than the first"—we commit to a path of continual growth and tireless service. We recognize that our wealth and influence are tools for the Kingdom, intended to provide the "support and networking" necessary for the Gospel to flourish in new territories. Like Lydia, the first European convert, we are pioneers, opening doors where they were once closed and building foundations that will sustain generations of believers. To cultivate God-fearing women whose hearts are open to the Lord, who walk in spiritual maturity, diligence, and excellence, and who transform their homes into houses of worship and their influence into platforms for the Kingdom. We are a community of daughters who build, disciple, heal, and serve—faithfully working while fully surrendered—so that others may run with the vision and encounter Christ.

We are the Disciples of Lydia: Noble in Character, Diligent in Industry, and Devoted in Heart.
